Abstract
The analysis of the implications of sport on various dimensions of society, politics, economy and culture has been at the center of sociological studies. This article explores the possible effects of sports pillars on sustaining national security. The purpose of this article is to test the fittness of a theoretical model regarding the use of sport as a tool for stabilizing national security with a sociological approach. This research was conducted using a survey method. The statistical population included policymakers, sports designers and planners, university professors in sports sciences, coaches, sports players, sports journalists, and managers of sports organizations. The sample size was 384 people who were selected using a stratified probability sampling method. The measurement tool was a researcher-made questionnaire. According to the results, the path coefficient of sociological factors (causal conditions, background factors, intervention factors) on the role of sport in sustainable national security is equal to 0.86. This value indicates the positive and strong effect of the sociological factors on the phenomenon of the role of sport. Based on the factor loadings of the three variables of causal conditions in the field of sport, intervention and background factors have a significant importance on the formation of those sociological factors, equal to 0.84, 0.80 and 0.74, respectively. Strategies such as seeking to host and participate in international sporting events, promoting sports diplomacy implementing sports programs that integrate different lifestyles and cultural traditions with sports activities can harness the power of sports competition to sustain national security.
