Abstract
The aim of the present study was to develop a model of strategies for the development of professional women's sports in Iran. The present study is a qualitative study using the six-step content analysis method of Brown and Clark (2006) which was conducted within the framework of an inductive and exploratory approach. The participants in the study were selected purposively from among researchers in the field of women's sports, people with experience in sports management in women's sports, and female athletes and coaches who are members of national and provincial teams. Data were collected through in-depth and semi-structured interviews and 15 people were interviewed until theoretical saturation. In this study, to examine the validity, the research findings were presented to the participants and while studying the identified strategies, their opinions and suggestions were applied in the final strategies. Also, in this study, the intra-subject agreement method was used to calculate the reliability of the interviews and the reliability between the two coders was 66%. The research findings showed that the pattern of strategies for the development of professional women's sports in Iran includes 56 primary codes, 12 sub-themes, and 6 main themes, including physical infrastructure, education and empowerment, advertising and culture building, networking and cooperation, financial and legal support, and scientific and medical support. Based on the research findings, it is suggested that the country's sports policymakers, with an integrated approach, prioritize the development of women's specific infrastructure and simultaneously implement systematic programs to empower female coaches and athletes.
