Abstract
The aim of the present study was to meta-analyze the barriers affecting sports tourism in Iran. In this regard, it is an applied research and, due to the use of the meta-analysis method and the nature of the data, it is classified as a quantitative research. The statistical population of the study consisted of all studies conducted in Iran in the field of sports tourism from 2015 to 2025 in the field in question. The main qualitative sampling method used in this meta-analysis was the purposive sampling method. The final sample size of the study, consisting of 12 studies, met the criteria for meta-analysis and were included in the meta-analysis process. In order to examine and analyze the primary studies, the effect size, by separating each intervention, the combined effect size with two fixed and random effects models, funnel plot, sensitivity analysis, homogeneity test, and I-root were used. Considering that the primary studies were of difference research method, the correlation coefficient was used as the r index. Also, CMA version 3 software was used to calculate the effect sizes. The results using the random effects model showed that the combined effect size with the random model of barriers affecting the development of sports tourism was obtained with an effect size of 0.507 and a significance of (0.001), which indicates a high effect size according to Cohen. The results of this study help planners and policymakers to make smarter decisions for the development of sports tourism.
